DESIGN SERVICE

The design of doorsets, panels and WC cubicles can be complex and without careful consideration could adversely affect what product arrives on site, particularly with regards to fire or acoustic performance. Resolving all product queries and ensuring compliance can be a long winded and complex process, taking up a lot of design resource capacity when striving to meet already tight schedules.

At Shadbolt, we have introduced a new Design Service which is a one stop shop from design through manufacture all under one roof. The benefits include:

DOOR SCHEDULE

As part of the Shadbolt’s Design Service, we prepare a comprehensive door schedule with all relevant details required for construction, and preparation of elevation and all necessary section drawings as required to show all relevant details of each door/frame type.

Please note that all site dimensions are to be measured by others and then issued to Shadbolt and that all wall details and anything outside the scope of Shadbolt supply will be shown as generic details.

Submittal of all drawings and schedules in PDF format to a specified email contact. Please note that this service does not include for uploading onto any online document control system or the checking and/or management of same.

DESIGN WORK & REVISIONS

The Design Service includes for the following design work and revisions:

a) 1 no. submission of all drawings and schedules at approval status for comment by all relevant parties to the design of the project. This can include contractors, architects, designers and end clients.

b) 1 no. round of updating/amending all drawings and schedules to comments received and then submission to construction status.

c) Final issue of “As Built” drawings including any late changes not captured in the previous revision.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

In addition to the above, our design package also includes for a member of the Shadbolt design or technical team to attend meetings, either in person or online to assist in the design process at the earliest possible stage, eliminating as many questions as possible as early as possible.

COSTS

Our standard costs for undertaking this service is 5% of the invoiced value for orders of over £100k and 4% for orders over £200k. For any orders smaller than £100k or orders in excess of £300k, pricing will be discussed and agreed on a case by case basis. In any event, any design works undertaken would be subject to a £1,500 minimum charge.

Additional services required during a project, including for instance repeated revisions due to repeated site changes and/or variations to the original specification, will be charged at a rate of £45.00 per hour for all additional work undertaken, invoiced monthly.
